Current Processing Time for Pension Estimates and Retirement Applications

Processing times tell you how long it will likely take us to process an application under normal circumstances. The estimated times only apply if all necessary information is available when we receive your application. Various factors can prolong processing times, such as:

  • Missing information / an incomplete application
  • The availability of required information from other sources, including your employer

If you have any questions about a specific application, or an application type that is not listed below, please contact our Member Services Team between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Atlantic Time), Monday to Friday.

Retirees and Survivors (in receipt of a pension) Survivor Benefits

If you’ve recently lost a loved one who was a retiree of the Pension Plan for GLT&S, please contact the Member Services Team at Vestcor, the Plan’s chosen administrator, as soon as possible to notify them of their passing and to inquire about any available death benefits.

If your loved one was an active member (employed or on leave) of the Pension Plan for GLT&S, their employer will notify Vestcor, the Plan’s chosen administrator, of their passing. Vestcor will provide the member’s applicable survivor with documentation, from which they can select their preferable pension-related option.
